Our reading of the manuals: risk rises with every opening and every touch. Not a measurement. Healthy mycelium is white or yellowish-white; green, black, red or pink is contamination.

Forecast discussion · updated 16 October 2026

PES Amazonian is a cultivar of Psilocybe cubensis named after Pacific Exotic Spora (PES), a spore supplier in Hawaii, and after the Amazon, where the line is said to have been collected. No collection record, published description or laboratory analysis of a culture sold under this name exists. What can be described is how the line is sold today and what the shop's own manuals say about growing it, and that is what the forecast above is built from: the PES Amazonian 1200cc kit from Dutch-Smart, day by day.

What the forecast is based on

Every day card uses the temperatures, waiting times and steps from the kit's manual and product page. The manual gives ranges, so the forecast does too: first pins after 2 to 4 weeks in the bag, harvest 1 to 2 weeks after that, about three flushes on average. Where the manual says nothing, the card says nothing. The detailed kit forecast adds the 2100 g grow bag, which follows different rules.

What is known about the strain

The shop describes PES Amazonian as a large, thick mushroom with golden, nipple-shaped caps, quick colonisation and mycelium that is "more rhizomorphic than average". Older grower pages describe big caps on slim stems, fast and strong bruising, and a tendency to abort pins. The traits page sets those reports side by side, and the origin page explains what PES was and what the hybrid and Amazon stories rest on.

Strength has never been measured on a culture sold as PES Amazonian. The closest data are from 1982, when researchers grew cultures from a spore print collected near Pucallpa in the Peruvian Amazon. The potency page shows those figures and why they cannot simply be transferred.

Which Amazonian product to choose

Dutch-Smart sells the line in four forms. Ordered from least to most work:

Buying a kit, a grow bag or spores is legal in the Netherlands. The mushrooms are not: they fall under the Opium Act as soon as they appear, so growing them is an offence there too. In the United Kingdom, Germany and under US federal law the rules are stricter. The law page has the details, checked on 16 October 2026, and the spores page explains why spore ampoules sit in a separate legal position.
